The first days...

I hadn't decided I wanted to go to university. I was moving out to Calgary with my girlfriend of the time, going to live with some friends, snowboard, and do whatever. A stand up plan for any highschool graduate. Anyways, that changed along with an entrance scholarship to UBC....Okanagan edition. The new satellite school in Kelowna, BC.

And so from the plains of rural Manitoba, in proper atypical fashion my folks and I set off across the country in a truck packed with clothes and a new laptop. And my dog. And so we arrived in Kelowna, drove up to the parking lot of my home for the next 8 months: the not so aptly titled Valhalla residence.

Anyways, I'm getting really tired and I want to go to bed right now. But, a couple last things I should say for this day. Each end of the hall had their own residence advisor (RA), and each RA had orientations for the students. Naturally, I went to the wrong one. This seems a tad quintessential as to what defines the George's, the Larry David's, and the many other victims of circumstance.

And so, there I was, in my dorm room. With Air conditioning that wouldn't shut off. The first vinyl coated twin mattress I had ever slept on, internet with no supervision, and in a school full of strangers. Exciting.
